The University of Akron golf team traveled to Orlando, Florida to play in the Mid-American Conference/Big East challenge for their last tournament of the fall over the weekend. The Zips had two players disqualified after the first round of play. Freshman Drew Davidson and junior Vaughn Snyder both had scorecard violations, so the Zips were eliminated from the tournament as a team.
With the Zips football team at 3-5 and entering the final stretch of the season--which consists of four games against quality opponents in three weeks--a bowl bid is a pipe dream in need of Drano. Unlike the Zips football squad, however, the basketball team has high expectations heading into the season.

Going into Saturday's game against Mid-American Conference East Division leader Buffalo, University of Akron head coach J.D. Brookhart talked about the Zips football team needing to limit the effectiveness of Bulls' redshirt sophomore running back James Starks.
The University of Akron's cross country team competed in the Mid-American Conference Championship over the weekend as the women finished second and the men finished fifth. The women just missed out on first place as they finished with an average time of 18:07.
The 16th-ranked University of Akron men's soccer team traveled to Buffalo Friday evening and brought home a victory after beating the Bulls by a score of 1-0. With the win, the Zips improved to 11-3-2 overall and moved to first place in the Mid-American Conference with a 3-0-1 mark.
